Every great trader has this.
They search for both big and small things they can do to boost performance.
They search for both the big things – the “quantum leaps” – and also the small things – the slight edges.
To turn a small losing year into a winning year. To turn a small winning year into a decent year. To turn a decent year into a very good year. To turn a very good year into a monster triple digit percentage return year.
Continuing on this theme of the very good and perfect trades, one of the things you can do is to find a perfect trade in the past and print out the chart of it. Label on it some reasons and principles and put it on your wall! So that every time you enter your trading room, your trading “den,” and every time you place a trade, this example of a perfect trade inspires you and educates you. So that the next time you place a trade you figure out what deviation, what lesser version, from this perfect trade example on your wall, your current trade is.
When a trader is first starting out – they can be very visual. You know what they say about men as being very visual. Well, traders are typically very visual. They may not be able to keep everything in their mind, so they require these visual aids. They require these examples across their desk and adorned on the walls of their trading room.
Pursuit of Happiness vs Pursuit of Pain
I started this strategy many years ago and it has served me well.
I have two sections of charts – I call one side “The Pursuit of Happiness” and the other side “The Pursuit of Pain.”
The Pursuit of Happiness shows off some amazing trades from the past.
The Pursuit of Pain shows off horrible trades and terrible market conditions.
So every time I place a trade, I can quickly glance up on my walls for trading inspiration and wisdom. I admit after many years, you don’t need to do it as much. Your experience, skill, wisdom and scenario analysis capability grows. A lot of the stuff is already in your mind. It is already in the consciousness level of what you have become. But, as was said above, when someone is first starting, or in a moment of struggle, these visual aids can really help and get you over the hump and onto the next level.
This is a very good strategy to have! Do it now! You don’t have to spend hours on it. Just a few quick minutes can be enough.
The steps are:
- Search for the greatest forex trades in the search engine.
- Decide on one to use. (For example Soros breaking the Bank of England)
- Find a chart for it
- Print out the chart
- Label some key reasons and principles (if you want help get The Perfect Trade Blueprint)
- Stick it on your wall!
Presto. Instant inspiration and wisdom on your wall above your trading station.
Using not just the monitor space effectively, but also using the space around your desk effectively and inspirationally (the “atmosphere”) can also be crucial to your trading success. Do not neglect the atmosphere around your desk and inside your trading office. You don’t have to just have a blank, white space on the walls around your trading area. Be much more creative with it. Fill it with what you desire that inspires you with the principles of the Perfect Trade.
